Sealants
reducing the risk of tooth decay
One thing that every patient hopes to hear at the end of a dental checkup is that they don’t have any cavities.  Fortunately, there are several things that patients can do to reduce or eliminate the prospect of getting them.

A dental procedure called sealants is one way to help reduce cavities on the top and sides of back teeth.  A sealant is a white resin material that blankets the tooth, protecting the vulnerable grooves of the tooth.  Sealants are routinely placed on children's teeth to prevent cavities on their newly developing molars.  The use of sealants can also be a cost-effective way to reduce the incidence of cavities on adults as well.
